Princess ready to rescue by EmblemDefender Princess ready to rescue by EmblemDefender
If the prince has been cursed, then who's going to help him?

I decided to pixel the former royal castle of Stockholm "Tre Kronor" in the background. Unfortunately it burned down in 1697 and another castle was built in its place.
I also tried to make it resemble something you could have found in an early 90s J-RPG.
Colors used: 24.

Update:
Okay, so this piece suddenly started to win awards. o__o *Falls off my chair* Princess... come rescue me!
Anyway, thank you so much!

Daily Deviation

Given 2013-09-01
The suggester says: "Not only is Princess ready to rescue by *EmblemDefender a beautiful piece with the princess as the hero, for a change, you can also see a stunning background with small details and Stockholm city hall with its three crowns portrayed in the back. A nice nod to the fact the artist is Swedish and smoothly made." ( Suggested by petrova and Featured by vanmall )

Okay, really? That sword is almost as tall as she is, looking at the picture. She has no muscle. So how the hell is she carrying that sword? Especially when she's carrying it in a way that most muscle-bound knights would have difficulty maintaining for long.

It's great artwork, especially the background (that castle is amazing), but couldn't you have at least had her using a short-sword and shield or something?

Thanks for your input. I'm afraid I have to disagree though. The sword is nowhere near as tall as she is and she does have muscles. One has to be really weak not to be able to hold it like that anyway. I think you underestimate her, I wonder if you'd do the same if it was a boy?
I own quite a few swords myself, including those which are larger and heavier than this one. These are the real deal and not some modern fantasy replica stuff. Among the heavier ones is a saber which is both longer and thicker than the pictured sword and I had no trouble swinging it when I was around 15. And I'm not particularly strong.

If I saw a boy with arms like that, I'd say the exact same thing, and I'd really appreciate it if your response to criticism about realism in your pictures wasn't "you're sexist." I'm not saying that a woman couldn't carry a sword like that; I'm saying that one with arms bearing a strong resemblance to noodles couldn't carry a sword like that. As for the length of the sword, unless she has abnormally long legs, it's is *at least* three-quarters as long as she is tall; probably longer. The way she's holding it (arms held straight out from her body)... Well, go find a lead pipe 0.7x the size of the sword (which, again, is bigger than you seem to believe it is) and see how long you can hold it like that. Then imagine doing that with, *again*, arms that resemble noodles.

I get what you're trying to do here. "Princess rescues the hero." It's a cool picture, but the way she's carrying the sword (and the fact that she's even using a 2h sword to begin with, but I'm not going to go into that right now) is slightly ridiculous. I'm going to stop now, because I'm sure you don't want to spend the next week or so arguing about a fantasy-world-based picture.
